Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart;
and you will find rest for yourselves.
For my yoke is easy, and my burden light.
This is Jesus' invitation to discipleship in Matthew 11:28-30.
Father Patrick M. Crino, Pastor
For parents for whom in-person classroom setting for religious education is presently impractical or uncomfortable, home schooling options are available for children attending Grades 1- 8.
This family-centered home schooling model (when executed thoughtfully and diligently) can be an excellent learning opportunity for the child and equally strong relationship building opportunity for the family unit.
Sign-up is required (submit on-line forms, select the Home School option.) Materials will then be provided for you and Director of Religious Education, Rob Weierman will 'check in' every two weeks to assess both the process and learning progress.
Resource options are noted below:
Presented through Dynamic Catholic, Matthew Kelly's Blessed programs offer world-class animation, workbooks that are works of art, and catechist-friendly leader guides. This First Communion and First Reconciliation prep meets children where they are and leads them, step-by-step, to where God is calling them to be.
OSV's Alive in Christ curriculum for grades 1 - 8 intentionally and systematically evangelizes, equips, supports and affirms both children and families. It forms Catholic identity and builds religious literacy through a comprehensive and developmentally appropriate presentation of the faith using current educational methodology. Additionally, it invites children to hear God’s invitation to a personal relationship through his Word, helps them discover and learn the Church’s teaching in precise theological language, and teaches them how to live as Catholic disciples.
In addition to (not instead of) the preceding options, it is suggested parents (together with all their children) consider exploring this book - Totally Catholic: A Catechism for Kids and Their Parents and Teachers - by Mary Kathleen Gavich.
