Go, therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded of you. And behold I am with you always, until the end of the age.
This is our Catholic mandate as found in Matthew 28:19-20/New American Bible.
Father John P. Lyons, Pastor
In the true sense of sharing our many blessings with others, St. Thomas the Apostle Parish annually provides Thanksgiving dinner to over 150 needy families (approx. 900 people) from the Parishes of Holy Family, Our Lady Queen of All Saints, St. Christopher, St. Cyril, St. Kateri Tekawitha and St. Margaret.
Each Christmas season, St. Thomas the Apostle Parish offers to its parishioners the opportunity to share generously with the needy families of our “adopted” Tucson parishes.
Giving Trees are located in the back of the church. The trees are decorated with ornaments providing information on the needs of the person you may wish to help.
You are invited to choose an ornament, purchase a Christmas gift according to the information provided, and return it WRAPPED—with the ornament attached please—to the narthex by Sunday, December 16, 12:00 Noon.
Each Lent, the St. Thomas the Apostle Life Teen Group traditionally sponsors its "Cross of Life" program in support of Reachout Women's Center, a non-profit pregnancy counseling center dedicated to helping pregnant women and new mothers in need.
A Cross of Life is staged in the Church narthex for three weeks. Parishioners take a little cross with suggested items in constant need and return the item with the cross attached.
There are also self-addressed envelopes that may be used for monetary donations. These monies will be used for purchases of necessary items. Please make checks payable to REACHOUT and place them in the collection basket or place them in the poor boxes in the Narthex.
Everyone is precious and needs love. In a merciful way, vulnerable newborn babies and mothers need people to reach out fo them; they need the hope that love alone provides.
Regarding the 2019 Parish efforts: Reachout Women’s Center staff and volunteer would like to thank you...for the very generous donations delivered to the Center in March ...We received about 3,500 diapers, over 900 baby wipes and 50 cans of formula. Bibs, blankets botterles and pacifiers numbered over 100 and much needed books and toys totaled meore than 320! Over 500 pieces of clothing and almost 200 pairs of socks kept our clothing bank volunteers busy sorting and organizing! We thank you..for the time and effort you put into this wonderful project of mercy…
