Go, therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded of you. And behold I am with you always, until the end of the age.
This is our Catholic mandate as found in Matthew 28:19-20/New American Bible.
Father John P. Lyons, Pastor
You are invited to the Chapel to participate in the November Taizé Prayer Service – in celebration of one of the Gifts of the Holy Spirit: UNDERSTANDING. The prayers, readings and hymns for this service are curated around this theme. ALL ARE WELCOME, INCLUDING FAMILIES.
Taizé prayer is a simple and short service, nonetheless it is deeply spiritual. Components include prayer, Scripture readings, congregational singing and silent contemplation. The service fosters an intimate and encompassing relationship with God. Participants report tranquility, appreciation, connection, gratitude, hope and bliss.
Singing is one of the most important forms of prayer. A few words sung over and over reinforce the meditative quality of the prayer. The express a basic reality of faith that can quickly be grasped by the intellect and then gradually penetrates the heart and the whole being.
The Holy Spirit’s Gift of Understanding offers insight and a penetrating intuition of the divine truths of faith, illuminating the mind and allowing one to enter in a divine intimacy with the Lord.
Contemplative and meditative prayer are long-established traditions in the Catholic faith.
